Farmhouse Biscuits takes advantage of business grant
Nelson businesses can benefit from grants of up to £100,000 in the final year of the Nelson Town Deal.
One such business that has already benefitted from a grant is Farmhouse Biscuits Ltd who received £17,500 towards its new chocolate enrobing area at its factory on Brook Street, Nelson.
The money also helped to create three new full-time jobs and safeguard a further six full-time jobs.
Nelson businesses can apply for similar grants by contacting Mike Williams, Economic Development Officer at Pendle Borough Council, via email michael.williams@pendle.com
Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Growth and Regeneration and Nelson Town Deal board member, said: “The funding comes from the Business Resilience and Growth Project, which is designed to promote sustainable growth in the area, create jobs and provide new opportunities for local people.
“Supporting a well-established business like Farmhouse Biscuits proves these grants are for all businesses, including those that have been in the town for decades.
“I would urge any Nelson business owner – whether they are just starting out or have been established for years – to get in touch if we can help their business develop.”
Carel van Bentum, Health & Safety Manager and Facilities Manager at Farmhouse Biscuits Ltd, said: “We received a grant to provide energy savings on our chocolate manufacturing lines.
“This consisted of building a fully enclosed room to house the chocolate enrobing areas of two production lines. This now gives our production of chocolate products a much better environment as the ambient temperature is accurately controlled and monitored.
“This has been a great success and wouldn’t have happened without the support of Pendle Borough Council who we would like to thank for organising these grants for local businesses.”
